- The European Commission's "European Standardization - Assessment" initiative is currently discussing how EU standardization policy should look and be shaped in the future. Specifically, it is being questioned how Regulation (EU) No. 1025/2012 can continue to "take account of the opportunities and challenges of globalization, ensure public safety and support the ecological and digital transition". The public consultation on this is planned for Q3/2023. - The European Commission also recently published a press release entitled "The Commission recommends carrying out risk assessments in four critical technology areas: advanced semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum and biotechnologies". - "The UK government intends to recognize the CE marking in England, Wales and Scotland indefinitely beyond December 2024". This affects, among other things, the regulation for electromagnetic compatibility, measuring instruments, radio equipment and machinery. cetecom advanced, 04.08.2023
- On 19 July, the US Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) published a Request for Information (RFI) on the harmonization of cybersecurity regulations. The RFI is intended to be a step towards the goal of harmonizing not only rules and regulations, but also assessments and audits of regulated entities. The related document can be found here.
- ISAD e.V. has clearly advocated an extension of the date of application (delegated act on the Radio Equipment Directive) as part of the Cybersecurity, Privacy and Fraud Pre vention Initiative in order to make the creation and application or conformity verification of the essential requirements and hENs in accordance with RED Art. 3.3. d, e, f feasible for all products that communicate wirelessly or by cable.
